About the book

Nephi Willard has done everything a faithful Latter-day Saint is supposed to do. He grew up in Utah's Happy Valley, served a mission, and has held church callings his whole adult life. He loves God and keeps the commandments. He is also gay.

When Nephi tells his bishop the truth, and admits he can't accept a doctrine that shuts him out of salvation, he loses his calling and is summoned to a disciplinary council. Too gay for church and too Mormon for the gay community, he isn't sure where he belongs anymore.

Then he takes in a teenager whose own family has turned him away. And he meets someone who shows him a life he never dared to imagine. Now Nephi has to decide whether he can hold on to his faith and still choose love.

Raw, tender, and unflinchingly honest, Nephi's Courage is a story about faith, chosen family, and the courage it takes to be exactly who you are.

Praise

“A worthy tale of faith, friendship, being true to one's self, and the miracle of falling in love.”
